What’s on the market?
In creating for low volume manufacturing and sale, I decided to go towards the beauty direction, due to the increasing popularity of functional trinkets/accessories.
Production in Parts
Product was printed in two parts in order to decrease material waste, print time, and overall production cost, with the tradeoff of adding the process of conjoining the pieces post print.
End of Semester Sale
After ideation, low volume production, branding, and packaging, 10 units of the product were created and sold at an end of the semester market.
Cost Analysis
The materials, process, and packaging of each part costed $2.61.
Sold at $8 each, sold smilos would profit $5.39.
As a result, all 10 smilos were sold, generating a total profit of $53.95.
